The March 18th Wordle is ready to ruin some players' long-standing streaks. Wordle is a once-a-day word-guessing game that has gained popularity throughout 2022. Using a hint-system made popular through the classic game of Mastermind, players have to guess a random five-letter word within six chances.
Players begin a game of Wordle by guessing any random five-letter word. The game will highlight certain letters based on how close they are to the correct answer. A letter is highlighted in green if it is correct, yellow if it is correct but in the wrong position, and grey if the letter isn't in the answer at all. Using these clues, players need to continue to guess words until they get it correct, or they run out of chances. Normally, any five-letter word is acceptable, but for those players who like a little more of a challenge, Wordle also provides a Hard Mode. This mode will force a player into using the hints from previous guesses by not allowing letters that have already been proven to be incorrect and not allowing the letters that have been proven correct to be moved.

After a puzzle is completed players will have the option to share their answers to social media. Wordle utilizes small colored emoji boxes to show the journey that the player went through for the day's answer without actually spoiling the words used. These ambiguous posts have led Wordle to gain popularity very quickly throughout the year, and drew more and more players into the game simply out of curiosity. Now, many players show off their attempts daily in a competitive way, taking pride in the number of guesses, as well as sharing their losses.
