Laura Kinney aka X-23, who later took on the moniker of Wolverine, proves she is just as savage as her father, the original Wolverine, in a new piece of incredible artwork by Peach Momoko. Laura recently gave up the name X-23 as it was a constant reminder of the violent circumstances surrounding her existence. Laura wanted to prove that she is a weapon for no one except herself, and took on the name Wolverine to both stand out as her own hero while honoring the legacy of her father. Now, it seems as though she has surpassed her father in pure savagery in astonishing new Peach Momoko cover art.
Laura Kinney made her first appearance as X-23 in NYX#3 by Joe Quesada and Joshua Middleton. In the issue, fans are introduced to a violent and gritty world in which a little girl seemingly has the same powers as Wolverine as she uses her own version of the familiar adamantium claws to slice open her forearms only to have the wounds immediately heal. The brutal introduction to X-23 was only the beginning as she quickly lived up to the legacy of Wolverine throughout her Marvel Comics’ career.

In a Tweet by Peach Momoko, the artist shared original cover art to a Dark Agesissue featuring Laura Kinney’s Wolverine. The post contained two separate images with one of them continuing the comic title while the other is without, giving fans a clearer look at the artwork itself. The cover art features Wolverine standing with her arms crossed and claws drawn while blood drips from the sharp edges of the adamantium-laced natural weapons.
