Walt D. Williams, previously the critically acclaimed narrative writer for Spec Ops: The Line, has recently been promoted as the Narrative Director for Insomniac Games’ upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine.
Prior to joining Insomniac’s Wolverine team, Walt D. Williams was the lead writer for EA’s 2017 release of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, which garnered some praise as the reboot’s first full-length campaign storyline. However, Williams’ most impactful piece of writing comes from 2012’s Spec Ops: The Line, a third-person shooter that has garnered a cult following for its gritty storyline and ruminations about the nature of modern warfare. In 2021, Williams joined Insomniac Games as a Lead Writer on Marvel’s Wolverine before being promoted to a more significant role this week.

In a brief Twitter post on May 19, Williams shared that he has updated his Twitter bio to showcase his new role at Insomniac Games as a Narrative Director. William’s new title is one of many promotions handed to Insomniac employees this week. Just yesterday, Mary Kenney, who previously worked as a writer on Spider-Man: Miles Morales, was promoted to a Senior Writer position for Marvel’s Wolverine. Multiple developers on the Spider-Man 2 team have also found themselves in higher places as development continues on the upcoming PlayStation exclusive.
