Netflix has introduced a new tier to its lineup for customers. Titled «Basic with ads,» users pay $7 a month to watch the streaming service's content in 720p with ads. However, due to licensing rights, there are more than a few movies and TV shows not included in this plan. In fact, there are over 250 titles that are simply locked away from those using the ad tier.
The new ad-tier does a very good job at hiding content you can't access from your home screen. Boss Baby, Trollhunter, Madagascar, and more are locked. Of course, given that these are aimed at younger audiences, perhaps Netflix is looking into a way to make sure only age-appropriate ads are played.
Back in March, Amazon purchased MGM, so Prime Videos' movie catalog is growing by leaps and bounds. What's the biggest franchise to come out of MGM? Bond, James Bond. Most likely because of the new ownership of 007, Netflix can only include the Daniel Craig Bond movies in tiers without ads.In addition to Amazon-owned content, we found content from Telemundo locked as well.
