The showrunner of The Flash discusses whether or not Iris (Candice Patton) and Barry (Grant Gustin) will have their children on the series. Since The Flash premiered in 2014, Barry and Iris' love story has played a major role. In The Flash season 8, they faced new challenges due to Iris' time sickness, which kept them separated for several episodes. Luckily, viewers have always known that the two would remain together in the long run.
The Flash has previously revealed that Barry and Iris have kids in the future. This came about because of circumstances involving time travel which brought the couple into contact with their grown-up kids Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Bart West-Allen (Jordan Fisher). The characters have appeared in several episodes throughout the last few seasons, but so far the main timeline of the series has not reached the point where either of them has been conceived or born.

During a recent roundup about upcoming episodes of popular shows, TVLine shared a quote from The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace about whether or not one or both of Barry and Iris' kids will be conceived during the timeline of the show. Read his full quote below:
I hope! I don’t know how much time I have. I have to always write as if it’s the final season, but hope it’s not. I’ve been in that position for two years — going back to the end of Season 7, when we had [Barry and Iris] renew their vows — and I’m in the same position now. So let’s just call it 'a friendly challenge' for myself and the writers.
