Will Smith Apologizes For Slapping Chris Rock, Says Jada Had "Nothing To Do With It"
Will Smith has released a YouTube video publicly apologising to Chris Rock for slapping him at the Oscars, as well as claiming that the incident had nothing to do with Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Towards the start of this year, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscar's, after Rock made jokes about Jada Pinkett-Smith's alopecia. Smith stormed the stage, slapped Rock and then told him to "keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth". Smith was later banned from attending Academy events from the next 10 years.

Smith made a brief apology to the Academy and Chris Rock following the incident, but has largely been silent since the event took place. Today, Smith uploaded a video to his YouTube channel title "It's been a minute...", where he publicly apologies to Chris Rock and his family while answering questions regarding the event.
Smith said, "Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk. I want to apologize to Chris' mother. I saw an interview that Chris' mother did and, you know, that was one of the things about that moment - I just didn't realise, I wasn't thinking, but how many people got hurt in that moment. So I want to apologize to Chris' mother. I want to apologize to Chris' family, specifically Tony Rock. You know, we had a great relationship, Tony Rock was my man, and this is probably irreperable."
Following the slap, rumours were spread that Jada Pinkett-Smith had asked Smith to go up and deal with Rock following the joke, but Smith debunked this rumour, saying, "It's like, I made a choice on my own, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do
