A dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns could be in play for WWE WrestleMania 39. It's been Vince McMahon's working idea for the show's main event for months now, and as the occasion slowly comes into focus, so too is that possibility. With Reigns dominating WWE, both on Raw and SmackDown, perhaps only going one-on-one with The Great One could slow him down.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the biggest crossover star in WWE history, and despite John Cena's run of success over the last few years, it isn't all that close. However, Hollywood has kept him busy, and insurance requirements while he's been actively filming have prevented The Rock from wrestling a real match since WrestleMania 29. John Cena pinned The Brahma Bull on that night in 2013, and outside of a one-off squash match with Erik Rowan in 2016, that's the last time he wrestled.

The stars may be aligning for a Rock vs. Reigns match at WrestleMania 39, however. Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer recently reported that Johnson has no movie commitments for the first quarter of 2023, which would leave the door open for the bout, at least hypothetically. The Rock is also busy with his relaunch of the XFL, so perhaps generating some buzz for McMahon's former football company on The Grandest Stage Of Them All would be mutually beneficial.
As for how WWE could make this work in storyline, it more or less writes itself. The Tribal Cheif could enter WrestleMania 39 with a championship reign lasting for over 900 days, as he's already over 600 with the Universal Championship. Even if creative figures out a way to get the WWE Championship off of him sometime shortly, there's no denying that
