Daniel Weyman explains why his character, The Stranger, is so important to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The upcoming fantasy adventure series, based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, takes place thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, exploring the history of Middle-earth's Second Age and telling the story of how twenty magical rings were created. The show was announced back in 2017 after Amazon acquired the global television rights and is currently set to debut on its streaming platform on September 2. In addition to Weyman, The Rings of Power features a large cast that includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, and more.

Weyman's character was officially named back in February, following an intriguing poster and obscure appearance in one the show's first teasers. However, those who attended The Rings of Power presentation at this year's San Diego Comic-Con were treated to their best look yet. In an exclusive clip, audience members saw Poppy and Nori Harfoot discover The Stranger in a crater, surrounded by flames after a comet crashed near their home.
