Captain Rex is being touted to make his long-awaited live-action debut in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but, unfortunately, he can’t appear in the series due to a line in Star Wars Rebels. Captain Rex is the primary Clone Trooper character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and with significant supporting roles in Rebels and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, it seems to be only a matter of time before the hugely popular clone appears in a live-action Disney+ series. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan Kenobi wouldn’t be the right place for Rex to appear due to an episode of Rebels, but that doesn’t mean that Temuera Morrison couldn’t play another (and arguably more appropriate) clone officer instead.
A few moments in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s trailers suggest that Temuera Morrison will join the series' cast as an old clone trooper. Several shots of what looks like a figure in clone trooper armor and a bald character with a vague resemblance to Morrison may indicate that Rex or another clone trooper will encounter Ben Kenobi as he hides from the Empire. Since Rex is one of the most popular clone trooper characters in the Star Wars franchise, it’s reasonable to assume he’d be the clone Morrison would depict in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

YetStar Wars Rebels, unfortunately, prevents Rex from appearing in Obi-Wan Kenobi, thanks to a line of dialogue in the show’s third season. In the episode “Twin Suns,” Ezra Bridger resolves to find the legendary Jedi General, but Rex expresses his belief that Kenobi is dead, referencing the (duplicitous) words of Bail Organa. This indicates that Rex hasn’t interacted with Obi-Wan since the Clone Wars, making an appearance by Rex in Obi-Wan Kenobi impossible without
