The successful contemporary development studio miHoYo has shocked many of its fans this week by announcing that it is rebranding itself to HoYoverse. The studio, best known for being the developers of critically-acclaimed action role-playing game Genshin Impact, claim that the name change is a byproduct of wanting to expand its business into more avenues than just gaming.
Coming at a time when many game studios are attempting to broaden market presence to varying degrees of success, fans will wonder how this change will impact the studio and the games currently in development. With the company now employing over 4000 people across 6 locations, it has seen a rapid level of expansion over its ten years of existence.
