While many Grey's Anatomy viewers think it’s unrealistic for so many skillful doctors to be at one hospital, it actually makes sense that Grey Sloan is so prolific. Grey’s Anatomy follows the careers of the many doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, centering around Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). The group tackles medical emergencies as their own interpersonal conflicts trouble them outside of the view of their cases.
Throughout the seasons, Grey's Anatomy has welcomed quite a few talented doctors. Meredith Grey is the most prominent as she was a legacy doctor following in the footsteps of her impressive mother. Dr. Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) was the number 1 neurosurgeon in the country, and Dr. Sloan (Eric Dane) was the leading plastics surgeon. The amazing skill at Grey Sloan also includes the doctors they've poached over the years, like Dr. Pierce (Kelly McCreary), one of the youngest heart surgeons in the county, and the prolific visiting doctors that are drawn to Grey Sloan, like Dr. Avery (Debbie Allen). All these impressive doctors are great assets to not just the hospital but also the show.

However, many viewers have pointed out that it's very unlikely that so many well-known and respected doctors would be working together in a hospital. Most hospitals aren't nearly as stacked with award-winning, ground-breaking, first-in-their-field kinds of doctors, while Grey Sloan seems to be overflowing with brilliant minds, which is clear when Meredith wins her Harper Avery.
