Tim Burton’s Netflix show Wednesday has cast an up-and-coming star as The Addams Family heroine, prompting viewers to wonder where they have seen the actor before. Wednesday’s title character will be played by Jenna Ortega, the star of recent horror hits Scream 2022 and X. The young actor will play a version of Wednesday Addams, who is gifted (or cursed) with psychic powers that she is learning to control when the series begins. However, when a brutal killing spree leaves her hometown in shock, Wednesday is sent on a coming-of-age horror-comedy adventure that promises to be a little more mature and darker than the existing Addams Family movies. This tone is pretty fitting since, despite her young age, Ortega is already a veteran when it comes to the horror genre.
