However, for the lead role, Burton opted for a less well-known actor whose profile has nonetheless increased massively in the last year thanks to a string of scene-stealing roles.

Wednesday’s title character will be played by Jenna Ortega, the star of recent horror hits Scream 2022 and X. The young actor will play a version of Wednesday Addams, who is gifted (or cursed) with psychic powers that she is learning to control when the series begins. However, when a brutal killing spree leaves her hometown in shock, Wednesday is sent on a coming-of-age horror-comedy adventure that promises to be a little more mature and darker than the existing Addams Family movies. This tone is pretty fitting since, despite her young age, Ortega is already a veteran when it comes to the horror genre.
