However, the descriptions of certain items and the twins' resemblance to another important character may hold the key to who they really are.
The Twin Maiden Husks appear to be vessels inhabited by the souls of Finger Maidens, as is suggested by their name. Rather than guide Elden Ring's Tarnished to Grace, the two Maidens sell them lower-level armor and armaments, but their shop can be expanded as players collect Bell Bearings, which are items found in specific locations and, more often, on specific bosses. In this way, the Twin Maiden Husks can feel as if they are hiring the Tarnished for assassin work, looking to collect Bell Bearings from their targets and in return paying players in increasingly rare battle items.

This relationship between the Twin Maiden Husks and the Tarnished may hold the answer to who the merchants of Roundtable Hold really are. According to the description of the incantation assassin's approach, Roundtable Hold once hosted a group of assassins who would seek out Tarnished who "strayed from guidance," which in other words means those who strayed from the path of the Two Fingers and the Finger Maidens.
