Ranni the Witch’s quest is one of Elden Ring’s longest questlines, and Tarnished players will need the Ring of Oath to complete it. After progressing through most of the quest, players will reach a door that can only be unlocked with the Ring of Oath. However, since there’s no item with that name in the game, finding the Ring of Oath can be a challenge for players that don’t know which ring they actually need to open the door.
The “Ring of Oath” refers to the Dark Moon Ring, which Elden Ring players can find in the boss room of Raya Lucaria Academy where they fought Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Unfortunately, the chest containing the Dark Moon Ring will be locked, and players will have to progress through more of Ranni’s quest to obtain the Discarded Palace Key that unlocks it. This part of the quest opens up after players defeat General Radahn and give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade, which can be found in Nokron, the Eternal City.

After Elden Ring players give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade, they’ll be able to access the portal at the top of Renna’s Rise, which will transport them to Ainsel River Main. Near the Ainsel River Main Site of Grace, players will find a Miniature Ranni Doll that they can speak with when they rest at this specific Site of Grace. Once they speak with it a few times, the doll will eventually ask them to kill the Baleful Shadow. Defeating this enemy will reward players with the Discarded Palace Key required to open the Dark Moon Ring’s chest.
