Wheel of Fortune contestants have infuriated Twitter fans after continuously missing an obvious answer. Wheel of Fortune is a game show which has existed on television in some form or other since January of 1975. The show, created by Merv Griffin, features a competition where contestants must solve word puzzles similar to those in the game «Hangman» in order to win cash prizes and bonuses determined by a giant spinning wheel. Wheel of Fortune ranks as the longest running syndicated game show in the United States, and as of 2019 has had over 7000 episodes taped and aired.

Game shows like Wheel of Fortune could be argued to require a certain amount of yelling at the television to be full enjoyed, and since the rise of social media, fans have found that they don't have to yell alone. This can be incredibly cathartic, as every once in a while, there are some moments where the answer to the Wheel of Fortune puzzle is so obvious to everyone watching except the contestants. It's relatively well known that the live audience watching the show is told to suppress any reaction to the guesses made by contestants, but the folks at home can react all they want, and these days Twitter takes the brunt of their anger.
