The highly anticipated The Sandman releases on Netflix on August 5th, 2022, and here’s precisely what time the fantasy horror series’ season 1 drops on the streaming giant’s platform. Based on the DC comics series of the same name by Neil Gaiman that ran from 1989 to 1996, The Sandman is jointly developed by Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg. The Sandman season 1 comprises ten episodes, each of which will tell a different story while still contributing to the Dream of the Endless' (Tom Sturridge) story. A talented cast is involved in The Sandman season 1, including Jenna Coleman, Vivienne Acheampong, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Boyd Holbrook, Kyo Ra, Mason Alexander Park, and Game of Thrones’ Charles Dance and Gwendoline Christie, among others.

William Farmer put together another script in 1998, but Gaiman objected to it because of the enormous changes it proposed to the source material, making its original story almost unrecognizable. A decade later, even Joseph Gordon-Levitt became involved in The Sandman’s adaptation as Sandman himself, but that film also didn’t move forward because of creative differences, and Gaiman revealed it was even suggested to them to adapt it into a TV show, something he always believed would have been better considering the type of story told by The Sandman.
