A double gray checkmark lets the sender know that the message, which can be a text, photo, video, or even a document, has been successfully delivered to the recipient. This can be their phone or any of their linked devices. The last checkmark is a double blue one, and when this appears on the sent message, it means it has been read or seen by the recipient.
