During the Pigman's journey in the Weird West, you have to destroy all of the soul tree's taproots. The task is easier said than done as you start by not knowing where any of them are situated. Throughout the story, you gradually learn of their locations, and it turns out one of them is in The Fighting Pit.

The Pit is a small above-ground arena, so it's not the exact place you'd expect to see the root of a tree. And you may think the same thing when you get there as the taproot is hidden from sight. If you want to find out where it is and how to access it, this guide has all that information.
Naturally, the first step is to travel to The Fighting Pit, towards the southeast corner of the map. When you get there, you must locate the owner. However, the game doesn't give you an objective marker showing the guy's location. To find him, head inside the compound and then to the building on the right side of the arena. The owner is sitting upstairs waiting for you.
Pain (the owner of the Fighting Pit) won't be very willing to provide you with information on the taproot, but he does give you the option of earning it. He asks that you participate in an arena fight for his entertainment. There's an option to bribe him, yet it doesn't work, so you're forced to battle. Before accepting, though, you should make sure you have enough bullets and health for the upcoming skirmish.
Once you agree to the battle, you're transported to the arena. It's your posse going up against three outlaws. Don't underestimate these guys, as they're dangerous.
