Shining Girls, the latest Apple TV+ limited series, is a psychological thriller that trades in time travel. Premiering on the streaming service April 29, the show is based on the 2013 best-selling novel by Lauren Beukes. It centers on newspaper archivist Kirby Mazrachi (Elisabeth Moss, The Handmaid's Tale), whose brutal assault years before still haunts her but may also be the key to tracking down a serial killer who moves inexplicably through time.
Aiding her in this quest is journalist Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura, Narcos), whose alcoholism led to a downward turn in his career. Though he looks at Kirby's case as a comeback for him at first, he soon finds himself personally invested in the search for the truth and the distribution of justice for the «shining girls» who have become victims of the mysterious assailant.
