Warrior Nun’s Alba Baptista has joined the cast of the live-action movie.
Amazon MGM Studios is currently working on a live-action Voltron movie that will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. Thurber, who previously made movies like 2016’s Central Intelligence and 2021’s Red Notice, co-wrote the script with Ellen Shanman.
It was previously announced that Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Henry Cavill, Rita Ora, and John Kim will all star in the film.
Now, Baptista has officially joined the cast of the Voltron film.
Along with Baptista, Samson Kayo and Tharanya Tharan have been cast in Thurber’s film.
Baptista is known for playing Ava Silva in the Warrior Nun series, while she additionally played Natasha in 2022’s Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and will soon be seen in David Lowery’s Mother Mary. Kayo, meanwhile, played Oluwande in Our Flag Means Death and voiced Baby Bear in 2022’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Tharan has starred in television series such as Mustangs FC, More Than This, and Year Of.
Plot details for the live-action Voltron movie remain under wraps at this time. Thurber produces the film alongside Todd Lieberman via Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, and Hobie Films’ David Hoberman.
“I want to make sure that we stay true to the heart and the spirit of Voltron,” Thurber said in a video message during VoltCon. “In this film, we’re going to be introducing an entirely new generation of pilots. We’ve reimagined Voltron for the live-action world, but we’re going to stay true to…those iconic elements that you love, that I love. And I’m so excited to share it with you.”
A release date for the live-action Voltron movie has not yet been announced by Amazon MGM Studios.
