The first hints at the plot for Breath Of The Wild 2 have emerged, suggesting that the setting might not be what it seems from the trailers.
It’s almost three years now since the sequel to Zelda: Breath Of The Wild was announced and, officially speaking, we still know virtually nothing about it. The last announcement was that it is being delayed into next year, but there’s still no real clue as to what the story is about.
A series of Nintendo patents explain what’s going on in the main trailer in terms of gameplay but when it comes to the plot there’s really nothing to go on but fan speculation and basics like Zelda playing a more prominent role and the Master Sword seeming to be broken or corrupted.
However, a new interview with an Italian voice actor, who has now worked on both Breath Of The Wild games, may give some new insight – so only read on if you’re not scared of (fairly mild) spoilers.
Voice actor Pietro Ubaldi took the role of Daruk, the Goron champion, in the original Breath Of The Wild and according to Ubaldi he’s not only reprising the role but also playing one of Darku’s ancestors.
He doesn’t offer much detail beyond this, except that the new character is ‘more serious’ than Daruk and that it’s not Darunia from Ocarina Of Time and The Wind Walker. However, he could be the one that pilots the Goron Divine Beast 10,000 years ago in Hyrule’s past.
Breath Of The Wild already featured extensive use of flashbacks, so this is no guarantee that the game is set in the past – primarily or otherwise – but that is certainly looking like a possibility.
