Vikings: Valhalla creator Jeb Stuart is excited for the show's two contrasting female characters. Valhalla is the sequel drama series to Vikings, which ran for five and a half seasons on the History channel and finished season 6 on Amazon Prime Video. Stuart, who is best known for Die Hard andThe Fugitive, will run theVikings sequel alongside the original creator Michael Hirst. Vikings: Valhalla will premiere on Netflix in February 2022.

The original series followed Ragnar Lothbrok and his clan, but Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after Vikings season 6. Valhalla will kick off with the St. Brice's Day massacre, an attack in which the English burned Danish encampments. From there, it will follow Leif Ericksson (Sam Corlett), the first man from Europe believed to have landed on North America, Freydis Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), Leif's sister and a warrior in her own right, Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), a king of Norway, and Emma of Normandy (Laura Berlin), who was the queen of three countries in northern Europe throughout her life. Additionally, Vikings: Valhalla viewers can expect a larger cast of famous figures from Norse history.
