With Starfield and Redfall’s delay, God of War: Ragnarok may be the biggest first-party title set to release this year. Many have been worried about another delay, and rightfully so, but it’s worth noting that a God of War: Ragnarok dev did say it was on track for its 2022 release date in April.
Another good sign is the recent information released about God of War: Ragnarok. Santa Monica Studio detailed 60+ accessibility features coming to the game, and the fact that this information is put out forthright (and not days before the game release) is a big step in terms of marketing the game appropriately. The addition and forthcoming attitude with these features cannot be understated, but many also got a glimpse of God of War: Ragnarok in action too.
God of War: Ragnarok — Every Mythological Character Confirmed So Far
Players are able to see how some of God of War: Ragnarok’s accessibility features work, which is the most important aspect here, but some also noticed how much better God of War: Ragnarok looked on the graphics front. The short 6-second video below does a great job of comparing the graphics from 2021 to now in a scene between Kratos and Atreus.
It’s clear that everything is much more defined. The materials on Atreus’ clothing, the details sculpting his head, Kratos’ clothing and musculature, the general definition of the whole scene, and the crispness of the background all stand out within just a few seconds. Obviously, this wasn’t expected or intended to be a deep dive into God of War: Ragnarok’s graphics, but it does bode well for the game at large given how much improvement is in this one scene.
