Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney doesn't want the cast to pick sides in her breakup with Tom Schwartz. After getting married in 2019, Katie admitted that their relationship was no longer healthy. She revealed that her needs were not being met as there was a lack of understanding between the two. The two were in a relationship for 12 years and announced they were no longer together in March 2022.
After the split, the cast of Vanderpump Rules had a difficult time knowing how to behave around Katie and Tom. While they showed support, many felt that they needed to pick sides. Katie and Tom seemingly gave the impression that they wanted the cast members to choose sides on the breakup, at least according to Raquel Leviss. She expressed that the dynamics and relationships between the cast changed due to the split.

Katie responded to these rumors about expectations to choose sides. As reported by People, she stated that she and Tom told the cast that there was no need to divide. In the comments section of Vanderpump Rules fan account @pumprules on Instagram, Katie said, "We literally told them there’s no sides to pick. I have felt that some people have on their own done that for whatever reason but Tom and I are still friends so whatever." Katie and Tom plan to remain friends and do not want their split to interfere with their relationships. Yet it seems that some cast members have felt that they must support one over the other. Katie seemed to be unbothered by others picking sides as she and Tom have decided to maintain a positive relationship after their breakup.
