The Mistlands update coming to Valheim will introduce exciting new mechanics like big traps, a new forge and new varieties of fungi. The survival sandbox game, developed by Iron Gate Studio, has been in early access since February 2021. Based on Norse mythology, Valheim casts players as a deceased Viking warrior who appears in the titular realm after their death. Odin the All-Father tasks the player with defeating the evil creatures that stalk the realm, but to do so the player must gain strength by surviving and thriving in the harsh wilderness. Valheim uses a procedural generation system to craft its worlds, with the Norse realm containing various biomes including mountains, oceans, the Mistlands and the Ashlands. Iron Gate Studio has continued to improve and expand the title over time through expansion, with the upcoming Mistlands update adding spiders to Valheimalongside a new bow and other features.
