Unpacking is coming to PS4 and PS5 on May 10.
Unpacking in real life might just be one of the most soul-destroying activities you can undertake, but in a video game, it’s surprisingly fun. PlayStation fans can soon experience the joy of finding the perfect place for everything as Unpacking is coming to PS4 and PS5 on May 10.
Developed by Witch Beam, Unpacking was an instant indie hit when it launched for PC, Xbox and Switch last year. For those unfamiliar, it’s a puzzle game that tasks you with unboxing everyday objects and putting them in their rightful place around the house.
As well as being a satisfying organisation sim, the game also tells the personal story of a young woman. There is no dialogue; instead, the narrative is told using only her worldly possessions. You work out what’s going on in her life based on what personal items have been added and what’s been taken away.
Witch Beam recently announced that Unpacking would also be getting a physical release courtesy of Limited Run Games. After it launched last year, the puzzle game succeeded in making some of us feel well and truly old as it was revealed that some younger players don’t know what a GameCube is after struggling to identify it in the game.
Find out more about the relaxing rhythm of organising possessions in our Unpacking feature. And there are plenty more indie gems on the horizon. Check out our pick of the 25 new indie games to keep on your radar in 2022.
