Ubisoft is one of the most prolific publishers in the gaming industry, releasing new titles annually to a sizable fanbase. Now it seems Ubisoft franchises like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six are set to welcome another brand-new IP to the company based on the promise of its newest subsidiary Ubisoft Stockholm.
Ubisoft Stockholm is currently advertising a plethora of game designer industry jobs, and a lot of the required information hints at a bigger project. Talk of Ubisoft working on a new MMO game has been circulating for several months, but taking a look at several advertised job roles reveal more evidence hinting at what the IP is going to involve.
Former Ubisoft Massive Studio Manager Confirms Resignation
The Lead Game Designer role at the Stockholm company is asking for employees to have experience in action/combat design experience, which hints at a more combat centric video game effort. Ubisoft's typical focus on open world exploration and/or RPG elements means it has established a specific genre of games it works best at. However, since Ubisoft Stockholm is set to work on several unreleased IPs along with Animation Engineers and C++ coders that specialize in combat/action games, previous rumors about the secret IP being an MMO game appear to be less certain.
Additional requirements list player centric features such as «combat mechanics, player roles, and other non-combat action gameplay,» which adds fuel to the burning fire of Ubisoft's latest undertaking. It could be argued that most genres of game require combat in some way, but the company's demand for potential employees with prior experience in such a demanding category heavily implies that fighting and action will be one of the upcoming game's selling points.
