Famous director and comedian Tyler Perry claims that Sister Act 3 will honor the original film and its sequel. Upon Sister Act's1992 release, it seemed to instantly become a cult classic and even acted as a stepping stone for Whoopi Goldberg's career, launching her into fame and stardom.
Written by Paul Rudnick, Sister Act follows Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier (Goldberg), who enters a convent as Sister Mary Clarence under the witness protection program after witnessing first-hand her mobster partner commit a heinous crime. Due to Sister Act's box office success, the iconic sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, quickly followed in its lead. Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit featured Golberg as well as her other fellow nuns reprising their beloved roles. The sequel even showcased a breakout performance from Grammy-winning artist, Lauryn Hill. Released in 1993, Back in the Habit appeared as though it was the last fans would see of the legendary singing sisters.

Now, Perry is teasing fans with a new update on the upcoming Disney Plus film. As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Perry says that Sister Act 3 will without a doubt honor the first two films. He also went on to highlight and show gratitude for Goldberg's inspiring presence that she carried throughout the making of the film. «It's more Whoopi than anything. I wanted it to be the experience that I had watching both of them.
