Someone has made a mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim that takes inspiration directly from the Halo games. While the former is hugely successful in its own right, the latter is considered one of the most innovative first-person shooters of all time, rubbing elbows with the likes of GoldenEye and Half-Life. It's perhaps not too surprising then that someone would come along and marry the science fiction elements of one series with the open-world epic role-playing qualities of Bethesda's 2011 release.
Skyrim is even popular on the Steam Deck, despite the fact that the game is well over a decade old at this point. It's hard to put a finger on precisely why it's still dominating the gaming arena after all this time, but there are likely a combination of factors. It's a pretty sizable world, for starters, containing a lengthy storyline and a plethora of side quests to boot. On top of that, TES5 also seems to have transcended, becoming a part of popular culture in general, especially with the «arrow to the knee» quote becoming a meme early after release.
Skyrim Mods Completely Overhaul Key Systems
Of course, mods are also what's probably keeping the game alive. As spotted by DSO Gaming, user Araanim has uploaded the «Spartan Program» mod for Skyrim. This fan-made add-on incorporates certain aspects from the Halo franchise, namely the armor and weapons used by the Spartan soldiers, with the former being based off the Mjolnir armor from Halo. It should be said that this mod takes inspiration from the sci-fi series but doesn't appear to contain any story elements from the game. One of the images does show that players will be able to wield the energy sword, one of Halo's most iconic weapons.
