This Mod Turns Skyrim into A Settlement Building Simulator
In the realm of PC gaming, the modding community stands strong, with so many talented individuals and entire teams dedicated to improving the vanilla versions of releases. With a lot of video games having some incredible mods, such as the one which turns Doom 3 into a Thief-like stealth game, not to mention the popularity of the Garry's Mod tool, it's an aspect of the industry that's almost as important as the games themselves. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is certainly no stranger to mods, and it's even possible to take the original and turn it into something else almost entirely.
User Mattski123 has uploaded a mod for the Special Edition of Skyrim which pretty much turns it into a settlement building RTS game. The port is based on the mod created by Mattski123. Essentially, using the mod, players can build a house, or even an entire village using dynamically placed objects. They can also recruit other villagers and/or merchants, as well as add plants and furniture. The original description says there are also «random bandit raids» and «animal attacks.» It should be pointed out that building is not free, and users will need to use gold or firewood to pay for builds.

Skyrim has a ton of interesting mods, and this one in particular suggests that players download and install the «Flat Island» mod, which is an add-on that incorporates an island with a flat terrain, which makes it suitable for an RTX-style village building simulator. For a game that is generally about battling dragons, learning magic, and exploring a vast and open world, it's interesting to see people turning elements of it into something different, mixing up the genres to keep things fresh.
