There is a new Google Chat update which can potentially make your work life easier and give you a big productivity boost. Part of the Google Workspace, this new feature in Google Chat will allow users to create personal tasks directly from individual or group messages. This feature will be very helpful for users who often end up copying text messages and opening new tabs to make tasks, which is a very elaborate procedure. With this new feature, the entire process will become seamless and can be completed within a single window. Check out how it works. Also read: Stay Alert! Google Chat will now protect you THIS way
The feature is being rolled out for the Android and Web users of Google Workspace as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business starting May 23. Google Workspace posted in its official blog explaining the benefits of this new feature. It said, “This feature allows you to more easily stay on top of tasks that come out of conversations with your coworkers via Chat. Once you’ve created a personal task, you can add a due date and description, then quickly navigate back to the conversation”.
Earlier, the process of creating new tasks and adding due dates was slightly more cumbersome with users needing to go to a separate page to open and create tasks. This would also lead to unnecessary back and forth between tasks menu and Google Chat. This feature already exists on some other platforms like Slack where the user does not need to leave the chat window to create a task. With this Google Chat update, now Workspace users will also get to enjoy the single window operations where they can complete the entire process without ever leaving the message box.
