If you've played any Halo games, you've jumped out of a Pelican, driven a Warthog or Mongoose, and hijacked a Ghost. But have you ridden in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe? Because apparently at least one of them still exists in the year 2531, according to the latest trailer for the upcoming Halo TV series (via Polygon).
An eagle-eyed Redditor spotted the truck at about 0:44 and asked the obvious question: "Why is there a 2001 Chevy Tahoe on another planet 500 years in the future?" A closer look shows that that's not the only piece of anachronistic technology in the trailer. At the very beginning, what appears to be a rebel soldier is holding what is undeniably a modern AK-47.
One thing could be a mistake, but two make for a heck of a coincidence. It seems like these aren't goofs like the beverages spied in Game of Thrones, but are rather something intentional. It could be time travel--that wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for a sci-fi show. It could be a hologram or some kind of projected image. Another possibility is that they're fighting on Earth at a deserted outpost where a Chevy Tahoe has sat, covered in dust for 500 years. It could be that, somehow, in the 2500s, Russian guns and American trucks from the early 21st century are still in operating condition. It's anyone's guess at this point.
Halo begins streaming on Paramount+ on March 24.
