Filming on The Witcher Season 3 for Netflix has temporarily shut down due to COVID. Unconfirmed reports said Geralt himself, Henry Cavill, has tested positive, but Netflix did not confirm this.
The streaming company said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that Season 3 production has «paused due to COVID and we will be up and running as soon as it is safe to do so.»
If this all sounds familiar, it's because Season 2 of the popular fantasy show also had to pause temporarily back in 2020 due to COVID.
The BA.5 variant of COVID is understood to be among the most transmissible. US president Joe Biden recently caught the virus, but has since recovered.
The Witcher Season 3 doesn't have a release date yet. As for what we do know, Cavill returns to play Geralt, while Freya Allan is back as Ciri and Anya Chalotra comes back to play Yennefer.
Season 2 debuted in 2021 and earned three Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Stunt Coordination, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, and Outstanding Special or Visual Effects.
