Henry Cavill is back for his final season as Geralt of Rivia in the newest season of Netflix's The Witcher, which just dropped a new trailer at Summer Game Fest showing him and Ciri teaming up to fight monsters. It arrives on June 23.
The Witcher's third season, which is based on Time of Contempt, will be split into two parts, volume one and volume two, with the latter releasing on July 27. Each volume is comprised of four episodes. The season will also fold in a big story from Blood of Elves, which could mean that we'll see the Scoia'tael form. If you've played the games, you'll recognise that name - they're an alliance between elves and dwarves to fight back against the oppression of humans.

While The Witcher has proven to be a hit with critics, with its second season garnering a 95 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, fans are less approving. Not only does it have a 58 percent score, but the community has planned a boycott to voice their disapproval of the show, particularly Henry Cavill's impending departure and the changes from the source material. Some are even upset that Jaskier is bisexual, despite him being a, you know, flirty bard. It's part of the job description.
Season 3 will be Cavill's swan song as Geralt with Liam Hemsworth set to take the mantle once he's gone, and while fans are upset and confused regarding the decision, it isn't something that the showrunner wanted either. There were a few options on the table after the news - cancel the show, replace Geralt with another Witcher, or recast Geralt and continue.
