Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's books of the same name, CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series has been a critical and commercial success and has served as the inspiration for the popular Netflix adaption as well. Though it already has three mainline games under its belt, The Witcher franchise has been a little quiet after the release of the beloved third entry, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, in 2015. However, fans of the series were excited when it was finally confirmed in March of this year that The Witcher 4 was in development.
While this was an exciting announcement, CD Projekt Red did clarify that it was still very much early days for the game, even though the gap between entries is now almost the same as the time between the first game's release and the third. Fans will undoubtedly have to wait awhile yet for more news about the upcoming Witcher game, but there are a few tasty details that the developer has let slip in the meantime. Although not much has been revealed yet about The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red has said that the next game will focus on a «new saga» and will feature the School of the Lynx. A new Witcher school will be intriguing, but some fans think The Witcher 4 shouldn't stop there and should instead introduce a bunch of new schools to freshen up the franchise.
