The Prime Video original series, The Wilds, will not be returning for a season 3. The Wilds is created by Sarah Streicher and follows a group of teenagers who become stranded on a deserted island after their plane crashes. However, in a surprise twist, the crash was secretly orchestrated as a social experiment, setting The Wilds apart from similar survival series. The show is part of Amazon Studios' attempt to reach young-adult viewers, an increasingly sought-after audience in recent years.
Deadline reports that Prime Video has cancelled The Wilds after two seasons. The show's 18th episode, which was released on May 6 along with the rest of season 2, will now serve as its series finale. The Wilds' cast and crew were just informed of the cancellation.

Although The Wilds gained a lot of attention when it first debuted in 2020, it seems that wasn't enough to earn the series a season 3 renewal. The long interim period betweenThe Wilds season 1 and season 2 (roughly a year and a half) may have caused some of its initial viewers to lose interest, and therefore be part of the reason why season 2 didn't perform as well. For those sad to see The Wilds go, Showtime's Yellowjackets may be their next obsession as it starts out with a similar premise, although it does go in a very different direction. Additionally, viewers will have to continue following whether another network or streamer potentially picks up The Wilds for a season 3, though that seems unlikely as of now.
