Mobius Digital's Outer Wilds will soon land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, and the indie space exploration game will reportedly receive new-generation upgrades. The unique title tasks players with exploring a gorgeous solar system in search of a way to stop a supernova that will destroy everything. However, a time loop mechanic lets players retain any knowledge they gain after they restart back at the beginning of the 22-minute cycle. Earlier this year it was announced that the gamewill release on Nintendo Switch in 2022, and free Outer Wilds upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S were also recently revealed.
Released back in 2019, Outer Wilds puts an emphasis on exploration as players attempt to prevent the solar system's destruction. Similar to a roguelike adventure game, the indie title's time loop mechanic gives players endless opportunities to search different planets and progress through the mysterious narrative of Outer Wilds. Retaining knowledge lets players progress much more quickly as time goes on, with the code to unlocking a spaceship being retained once players find it initially. While braving dangerous planets is a huge part of Outer Wilds, the game is centered around exploring and learning rather than engaging in interstellar combat.

Outer Wilds, along with its Echoes of the Eye expansion, originally launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
