The response to rumors of Henry Cavill appearing at San Diego Comic-Con make it clearer than ever that he should continue as Superman. Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman began in 2013's Man of Steel, with Cavill continuing in its 2016 follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Justice League's 2017 box office failure and CGI mustache conundrum threw Cavill's Superman future into disarray, but the release of the original cut of the film in 2021 as Zack Snyder's Justice League got Cavill's Superman back to full Kryptonian strength.
Despite the generally positive response to the Snyder Cut and Cavill's performance in it, whether he will continue as the Last Son of Krypton on the big-screen has remained uncertain. That might finally be changing, however, with recent rumors of Cavill making an appearance at the DC films panel for 2022's San Diego Comic-Con this Saturday. If that rumor holds true, Cavill's return as Superman would finally be clarified, as well as Dwayne Johnson's heavily pushed battle of Black Adam taking on Superman (this year's DCEU panel at San Diego Comic-Con to showcase Black Adam and Shazam!: Fury of the Gods).

While it remains unconfirmed whether or not Cavill will actually drop in for San Diego Comic-Con to definitively state his return as Superman, the rumor has had an explosive impact all by itself.
