Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake is one of the most anticipated titles coming out in 2023. Despite being originally announced at the June Sony State of Play showcase, very little gameplay footage of the Resident Evil 4 Remake has been revealed. Earlier this month, Resident Evil developer Capcom did a presentation at the Tokyo Game Show, but save for revealing that Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming to the PS4, not much else was shared regarding the forthcoming game.
Instead, Capcom used the event to delve deeper into the upcoming Resident Evil Village DLC, reveal that four of the most recentResident Evil games coming to the Switch via cloud technology, and shared updates regarding Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, and «more» would be revealed at their very ownResident Evil showcase which will happen at some point in October. The Tokyo Game Show presentation was brief and seemed like much more of an opening bid than a primetime spot, but there seems to be a method to the madness.
In a post-pandemic world where streaming is king and in-person gatherings are trickier to organize, it's not uncommon for studios to do their own showcases. It is unusual for a studio to use a showcase to announce a showcase, but there's reason to believe that Capcom is waiting to pull out the big guns. Even before the Nvidia leak revealedResident Evil 4 Remake, among other games, the rumors had been swirling that the fourth entry would be the next to get the remake treatment. As the calendar inches closer to the game's March 2023 release date, it's safe to assume that Capcom is getting ready to present much more of it.
