Mordenkainen Presents: Multiverse of Monsters will explore the origins of the goblin race from Dungeons & Dragons, expanding on hints that were introduced in the first edition of the game. Multiverse of Monsters is an upcoming book that will feature updated versions of playable D&D races and monsters that were present in different D&D books.
The goblin race in D&D is best-known for how commonly they appear in low-level encounters. The goblins are recognized as being cowardly and cruel, only daring to face adventurers when they have superior numbers. They are often enslaved by bugbears, hobgoblins, and orcs, so that they can be used as shock troopers and cannon fodder in battle. Volo's Guide to Monsters introduced a playable version of the goblin race, which is set to be updated in Multiverse of Monsters. The people interested in Multiverse of Monsters will be able to purchase it as part of the D&D Rules Expansion Gift Set on January 25, with a standalone release coming on May 17.
