Just a few days after its North American release, MMORPG Lost Ark is setting records on both Steam and Twitch. The Amazon-published free-to-play game recently made its way to North American territories after launching overseas back in 2019. This has proven to be a major success, although the game is also suffering slightly due to issues with Lost Ark queue times.
Amazon's foray into the world of video games has been interesting so far; the company suffered a pretty major flop in the form of Crucible, which was axed shortly after its birth in 2020. Following that game was last year's New World, which has fared significantly better so far, if its concurrent player count is anything to go off of. With the North American release of Lost Ark, the massive tech and media corporation is looking to expand its presence in the gaming space even further. The live-service MMO is free-to-download and supported by various in-game purchases, similar to other popular online RPGs like Genshin Impact.

Lost Ark is now shaping up to be one of the biggest MMORPGs of the year, according to a recent press release from Amazon. The statement notes that, just a few days after its launch, Lost Ark has already reached over 1.3-million peak concurrent players, making it Steam's second-highest-played game of all time. Lost Ark is also performing exceptionally well on leading streaming platform Twitch (also owned by Amazon), approaching sixty million hours of total watchtime for all streams centered on the game.
