The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has officially been renamed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It also received a release date of May 12, 2023 for Nintendo Switch during the September Nintendo Direct. Much of the game is still shrouded in mystery, but preorders are now live at a variety of retailers. Here’s what you need to know about all available editions and any announced preorder bonuses.
There are currently no preorder bonuses for reserving an early copy of Tears of the Kingdom. That could change in the months leading up to launch--and it’s possible a few retailer-exclusive bonuses will pop up, so stay tuned for more details.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally up for preorder if you're content with owning the standard edition--or just want to feel the thrill of preordering it this far out. Both Amazon and Best Buy have listings up, and we expect more to follow in the coming months.
If you do decide to preorder Tears of the Kingdom early, you won't be down $60 right away. Both Amazon and Best Buy charge when the item actually ships. For Best Buy, you may see a charge appear on your account, but it should drop off eventually. Amazon has a preorder price guarantee, so if the price drops between when you preorder and when the game ships, you'll be charged only the lowest amount. With Amazon's history of randomly discounting game preorders, that's not a bad reason to preorder Tears of the Kingdom today. You can cancel your preorder at any time before the game ships.
