The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a big open world to explore, but like in its predecessor, the map won't be able to aid you in your exploration endeavors right from the start, as you will have to make an effort to unlock it fully.
To unlock additional portions of the massive map in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will need to access the Skyview Towers found in each region. Most of them are easily accessible, but a few won't be available for use as soon as you reach them due to a variety of reasons.
The trickiest Skyview Tower to activate in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, which can be found to the southeast of Lookout Landing in Central Hyrule. After getting to the tower, you will realize that the entrance cannot be found anywhere, as the mysterious phenomena that have occurred since the release of the Demon King covered the entrance with snow.
To enter the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, you will need to enter it via a cave that can be found nearby. Close to the tower, you will find a tent, and behind it, you will find the entrance to Maedela's Mantle Cave. Enter the cave, and create a makeshift raft to ride the current until you reach a location with a wooden ceiling held by four wooden braces. To enter the Skyview Tower, all you need to do is to pick your makeshift raft with Ultrahand, place it against one of the braces, hop onto it, and use Ascend while below the wooden ceiling. You will then climb inside the tower, and you can activate it normally to unlock one more portion of the map finally.
