Thanks to some big names already on the docket combined with the delays throughout 2021 brought about by the pandemic, 2022 was shaping up to be a huge year for games before it had even begun. So far that has certainly rung true. Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Horizon Forbidden West, and the game many have decided is the best of the year already, no matter what arrives over the course of the next nine months, Elden Ring.
The further we venture into the year, the more likely it seems Elden Ring might actually have Game Of The Year sewn up. Nintendo revealed today another major title we were hoping would be here by the end of 2022 has fallen by the wayside. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's still unnamed sequel will now not be here until Spring 2023.

Honestly, considering the game doesn't yet have a name, it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that it won't be here in 2022. It's presumably a pretty major project and it has only been five years since the arrival of the first Breath Of The Wild game. Nintendo has fallen into the trap of revealing a game too early. Had we heard nothing about BOTW 2, then an arrival in 2023 would have been absolutely fine. Now there will be a lot of Zelda fans feeling pretty blue.
BOTW's sequel joins Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League in what is quickly becoming a pretty busy start to 2023. Hopefully both those games will be here by this time next year, though the incredibly little we have seen of BOTW 2 so far is a little worrying.
