PC gaming is no stranger to weird and wacky desktop builds that push the limits. From completely modular PC cases to desktops that come in strange shapes, we’ve seen some pretty impressive desktop cases in the past, but Cooler Master’s latest concept for the Sneaker X is certainly ‘kicking’ around an interesting idea. As the name implies, it’s a case that looks like a gigantic shoe, and no, we’re not joking.
It was recently shown off during Cooler Master’s recent Chronos Summit 2022 event, but that wasn’t the first time the case has made its rounds. The Sneaker X case design showed up back in 2020 when it won Cooler Master’s Case Mod World Series 2020 award for best art direction. And now, PC modder JMDF’s design is available to view over at Cooler Master’s website.
Let’s be honest for a minute, this is a really odd idea in itself. However, it gets points for being unique, and there are tons of little quirks here that are really clever. You may be wondering how much room is actually inside the Sneaker X. Funnily enough, there’s actually plenty of space inside the case. In fact, some of the bulkiest graphics cards on the market can fit inside the sole of the shoe, which is a very strange sentence to say out loud. Cooler Master says that the case can “accommodate the latest top-of-the-line CPU and GPU as well as an AIO cooler.” So, it seems like space isn’t really an issue at all.
Images show that PC components fit inside the case in a way that maintains the concept’s stylistic approach. Things like fans and RGB lighting manage to seamlessly fit into the design, but there are still a few key details that we’re missing. For example, we don’t know how it’ll actually open up, and there’s no word on how much it’ll cost either.
