PC gamers will finally be able to play The Last of Us on PC thanks to the recently-announced The Last of Us Part 1, a remake of the 2013 classic. Up until this point, The Last of Us was only available on PlayStation consoles, though hopes that the series would come to PC grew after PlayStation announced more PC games are on the way. The Last of Us Part 1, though a remake and not the original, will join other Sony exclusives on PC, including God of War.
The originalThe Last of Us was widely considered to be ahead of the times with its graphics and gameplay on PS3. Protagonists Ellie and Joel captured fans' hearts with their relationship and growth throughout the game, which contrasted against the terrifying and overrun game world. The original version of The Last of Us was released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, and was quickly followed by a PS4 remaster in 2014. The game received a sequel in 2020, and when The Last of Us Part 2 was released, The Last of Us Remastered spiked in sales again, showing how many fans, old and new, wanted to return to the world and explore it.

During Summer Game Fest 2022, it was officially announced that fans will be able to play The Last of Us remakeon PC following its September 2 release on PS5. While an exact PC release date wasn't given, the trailer does confirm that PC players will finally be able to experience the first adventure of Joel and Ellie for themselves, with the PC version "also in development." It is unclear if Sony is going to bring The Last of Us Part 2 to PC anytime soon, but following confirmation of the remake, it's something players can hope for.
