Beleaguered Flash star Ezra Miller says they are seeking treatment for «complex mental health issues.» A representative of the actor provided a statement to Variety regarding Miller's increasing legal troubles and erratic behavior, including multiple incidents of disorderly conduct and harassment.
«Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,» Miller says. «I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe, and productive stage in my life.»
Last week, The Hollywood Reporter indicated that Warner Bros. Discovery has been weighing at least three different strategies for the film, which isn't due to arrive in theaters until June 23, 2023. The possibilities for the film included shelving it or, less drastically, move forward as planned provided Miller seeks professional help. Because Miller is reportedly in nearly every scene of the movie, and plays multiple characters in it, reshoots with another actor is not a realistic possibility.
The road ahead then, for now, looks like the movie will likely still come out--but Miller may either have limited or no involvement in doing press to support the film. Warner Bros. may also still recast the role in future projects, regardless of how the situation progresses from here.
Miller's involvement in the DCEU has been paused since April.
