The Elder Scrolls Online Is Free to Play Until April 26

The Elder Scrolls Online has gone free-to-play until April 26.

Bethesda says that curious players will be able to make their way through the base game—"including four classes, 23 story zones, Battlegrounds and Alliance War PvP, and more"—as well as content from the Morrowind expansion released in June 2017.

"Because the Free Play Event grants you access to the base game," Bethesda says, "you can play the High Isle Prologue questline and begin your Legacy of the Bretons year-long adventure—setting the scene for this year’s big Chapter release, The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle."

The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle is expected to be released on PC, Mac, and Stadia on June 6, with the Xbox and PlayStation versions arriving on June 21.

The company is also running a sale for people who play The Elder Scrolls Online during this free event and decide they'd like to keep playing after the promotion ends. Bethesda says it's offering discounts up to 70% off the base game and 67% off The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood.

The Elder Scrolls Online is free to play on PC, Mac, Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, and the Stadia game streaming platform. The game will be on sale on The Elder Scrolls Online Store, Steam, Stadia, and Xbox until April 27; it'll be on sale via the PlayStation Store until April 28.

"With hundreds of hours of quests, characters, and worlds to explore, and a brand-new saga just on the horizon," Bethesda says, "there’s never been a better time to jump into The Elder Scrolls Online—we’ll see you in Tamriel!"
