The Boys season 3 secretly revealed who could kill Homelander — and it isn’t Soldier Boy. Billy Butcher and the rest of the Boys came very close to killing Homelander in season 3. The group, typically united, was fractured throughout the season, distancing themselves from Butcher. Their original plan was to find what could kill Homelander. The answer to their woes, however brief, seemed to be Soldier, but the season 3 finale paved the way for someone else to step up.
Soldier Boy was ready to fight Homelander in The Boys season 3 finale. Despite the reveal that Soldier Boy was biologically Homelander’s father, the former leader of Payback saw his son as a disappointment. The pair fought in a destructive battle that put the Boys on the defensive as they worked together (despite Butcher locking them all in a vault) to stop Soldier Boy. For a while, it really did seem like Soldier Boy might finally be the one to kill Homelander, but the leader of The Seven lives for another day. With Soldier Boy gone, Ryan could step in to fill the role of Homelander’s potential killer in The Boys season 4. The season 3 finale set it up pretty well should the show’s writers go down this path. Ryan may have stopped Homelander from killing Butcher and the Boys, but it doesn’t mean he will side with his biological father forever.
