Since the June 7, 2022 announcement from publisher Berserk publisher, Young Animals that six new chapters of the cult-favorite mangawill be published beginning in late June, fans have not been shy about taking to social media to voice their reactions. The fan response has ranged from excitement to cautious optimism to questioning whether the manga should continue without the original creator.
Berserk, which was created by Kentaro Miura, tells the story of Guts, a child literally born as his mother died and raised by mercenaries. Working his way up the ranks as a soldier for hire, Guts befriends Griffith, the leader of another mercenary army. Together, Guts and Griffith form an unstoppable force until Guts decides to venture out on his own to develop himself. When he returns, he finds that life has changed significantly, including the fall of his friend and mentor Griffith and his rise as the group's leader. First published in 1989, outside of its intensity and handling of controversial subjects, Berserk has been known for its irregular publication schedule.

The last stoppage of the manga's publication has been the most heartfelt. In the time since the manga last went on hiatus, Miura sadly passed away on May 6, 2021. However, as fans slowly came to the conclusion that they had perhaps seen the last of any new Berserk content, publisher Young Animals made the announcement of the upcoming publication of the six new chapters to be penned by Miura's close friend Koji Mori. Fans have certainly made their feelings about this news known. The general vibe of the fan reaction was, as expected, immensely positive, while others were in shock.
Best news ever!
